Virtue or vengeance?

November 8, 2019

This week we immersed ourselves in The Tempest and became real Shakespeare experts! Many of the children reflecting on the week explained that they loved it because: “We got to do lots of acting and take part in telling the story”.

The Tempest and its disastrous effects.

Our favourite characters.

Exploring Ferdinand and Miranda’s feelings.

We also had our first Forest School session and explored the value of being in nature and learning collaboratively.

In Maths we have been learning to add and subtract by bridging through 10. This will help us with our mental calculations.

Next week:

It is important that pupils wear full waterproof clothing and warm base layers. Include the following items in their forest school bag:

  • Sturdy outdoor boots/ wellingtons
  • Water proof trouser / jacket
  • Leggings / thermals
  • Long-sleeved jumper /fleece
  • T-shirt / a vest
  • Thick socks – thermal if possible or two pairs of thinner ones.

Next week is full of important days that we will be celebrating as a community:

Monday:  We will be marking the 2 minutes silence for Remembrance as a whole school in the Inner Circle.  Each child has made a poppy.

Tuesday: Anti-Bullying/Odd Socks Day:  Please can your child wear Odd Socks for the day to celebrate what makes us all unique.  We will also be launching a poster competition on that day with the best entries being printed for display around the school.

Wednesday:  World Kindness Day.  Perhaps you can discuss with your child what kind deed they could consider on the day that is over and above what they normally do.

Wednesday:  Learning Conversations

Friday:  Children in Need Day (www.bbcchildreninneed.co.uk).  We are not dressing up but if your child wishes to contribute a donation to this charity, please pass the money to their class teacher by the end of the week.
